Former Official Hints at US Move to Annex Greenland
On Saturday, Katie Miller uploaded an image on X showing Greenland covered with the American flag, accompanied only by the caption “soon.” The post lacked further explanation and was not tied to any formal statement from Washington.
Trump initially floated the idea of purchasing Greenland, a self-governing territory under Denmark, back in 2019.
The proposal was quickly dismissed by Copenhagen and Greenland’s leadership. Since regaining office last year, Trump has revived the notion, describing the island as crucial for US national security and even suggesting the possible use of force.
Denmark has countered by reinforcing its Arctic defenses and expanding both military and civilian surveillance, interpreting the pressure as a direct challenge to its sovereignty.
Miller previously held senior communication positions during Trump’s first term and briefly worked in early 2025 as an adviser and spokesperson for Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency.
She later transitioned into private work and launched a conservative podcast. Although she no longer serves in government, Miller remains closely tied to the administration through her husband, Stephen Miller, Trump’s Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy and one of his most trusted and long-serving aides. Her public comments are often viewed as reflecting sentiments within Trump’s inner circle.
